Love Advice for women: Stand by your man

I don’t know if you are familiar with this famous female country and western singer, Tammy Wynette.  When I was young I use to love country and western, but only listened to the music and ignored the names to artists.

Well recently I wanted to find a song about divorce I had heard and it turned out she is the singer who recorded it. Boy does she have a beautiful and powerful voice.

This song Stand By Your Man has a message that women should really take to heart if they want to make their relationship work.

Listen to it and then let’s discuss it

Sometimes its hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
I am not sure exactly what she means in these opening lines. Could it be that she feels that it maybe e easier to love several men like some men are tempted to do.

It could be that women find it difficult to stay with a man who keep doing things that they consider to be foolish. Tammy herself divorced several times. However the theme of the song is that you should stand by your man.

You’ll have bad times
And he’ll have good times
Doing things that you don’t understand

Men are rather simple to please. Give them food and sex and they will believe that they are in heaven. They just cannot fully understand why women need so many things to please and make them happy.

Tammy hit bulls eye with these words, as you will work to make a man feel good and he sometimes just take you for granted and do things that totally mystify you.

But if you love him you’ll forgive him
Even though he’s hard to understand

Forgiveness makes the relationship world go round. It is easy to get offended and walk out, however if you really love you will forgive and move on.

I do not think that this should be interpreted to mean that you should not have boundaries and borders. There is such a thing as tough love. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions because you love your children. Similarly you will from time to time have to make unpopular choices because you love your man. You cannot let him get away with crap in the name of love. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you allow him to disrespect, downgrade and dishonour you.

There may also be times when you need to confront a sensitive point that may be necessary for the relationship to grow and flourish.

Forgiveness does not mean that he should feel the consequences of his actions either.

Oh be proud of him
‘Cause after all he’s just a man

One of the greatest needs of a man is for someone to praise him. He needs to feel respect and admired. When you tell him how proud you are of him, who he is, what he has done and achieved you fulfil this need in a powerful way.

Your man is not likely to ever leave you when this need is filled.

The last line of this section asks you to remember “he is just a man.” In other words he is human. He will make mistakes. When he does accept that he is just a man.

Stand by your man
When a man knows that a woman is supporting him in every way, he can conquer the world. He will be able to take risk, take on challenges, and conquer problems that he would cause other men to tremble in fear.

Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely

What beautiful words. Everyman would love for their woman to read and understand these words. They articulate what many men can say in word but feel deep inside.

Although many women thing all we need is sex, we do also need just the warm reassuring embrace of a woman. The type of embrace is needed when are struggling at work, struggling to find work, struggling to survive in the cold hostile world.

Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

While it is good for you to tell him how much you love him, what is even more powerful is for you to tell others(the world) how much you admire, love and respect him. This will be like tonic to his self esteem.
