Fantastic marriages don’t just happen

How would you like to have a fantastic marriage?

Won’t it be wonderful to have a marriage that is a source of happiness and fulfillment?

Actually that is why most of us get married.

But I am here to tell you great marriages do not just happen even if you have the world of romance to start with.

I know it sounds like a cliché but it takes work!

I know your heart will sink at the sound of the word WORK. But it can be fulfilling work. Satisfying work. Enjoyable work. Work that may envelope you in timeless bliss like the painter whose painting is so fulfilling he doesn’t even want to stop and eat.

Well how can you do this work when your marriage may be pure boredom or absolutely hell – chaos?

This reminds me of when God Created the work. It was chaos and each day God SPOKE and a piece of creation came together to make a beautiful world. Then on the 6^th day God took action and created man.

So it doesn’t matter if you think your marriage is chaotic or you think you have no love at all – there is hope.

The first thing I want you to understand is that love is a CREATION or should I say a CO-CREATION.

How do we actually go about creating a love relationship and a beautiful marriage out of the mess you may be experiencing.

First Remember God first thought and intended that he would make the world and man.

This is a very powerful point. He said, “Let us make man in our own image.”

 

• Decide to create a beautiful marriage.

Make an intention to create a beautiful marriage or relationship. Make a firm decision in your mind you will do whatever it takes to make it happen. Failure is not an option.

• Speak words that create the beautiful relationship you want.

Secondly recognize that words are very powerful. Words have the creative power to melt your spouse heart or crush his/her spirit.

Remember that lovely words you use to tell each other when you meet, over the phone, in text, letters, notes and emails. You created such electric and edifying emotions in your partner that he or she just could not live without you. They got married to you expecting the romantic creative words you spoke would continue to build a beautiful relationship.

Begin to speak words of affirmation and love and you will see your spouse’s love develop and grow like magic.

• Act.

Do things that will build a loving relationship. Belief it or not the way you act deeply affect your spuse.

• Take time.

Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither was the world. God took seven days to create the world. The marriage and relationship you want and desire will not magically mushroom tomorrow. I will take time for the seeds of the words and action you are sowing to take root in the heart of your spouse. So be patient
